Owner/Cook Ricky said "Eat Sh!t".Our family group of 11 went in looking forward to having a great meal based on online reviews. The restaurant is small but we were glad to be seated within 15 minutes but was all downhill from there. It took over an hour and 15 minutes to receive our meals and when food arrived it was terrible. The instant mashed potatoes were dry. The meat was super spicy and dry. Of 11 meals served only one person enjoyed their meal. When two meals were sent back the owner/cook responded through the server "tell them to eat sh!t" to which our response was "we already are". The owner/cook never came out to speak to us preferring to communicate through the server who was obviously frustrated and sympathetic. The whole episode was surreal and comical. We were comped our meal but we tipped the server generously. Never going back.
MoreGood food, great service and definitely Branco fans.
Home of the Halo Burger! Local appeal.. nothing fancy. Gotta try the "mountain of love" and "Rick's favorite". Go Bronco's!
MoreDriving through Taos with my family looking for a good place to eat and Google brings up Ricky's Restaurant, I'm so glad it did! The food was delicious, the waitresses were amazing and the customers were friendly. The food was homemade and like eating at my grandma's house🤤 Cant wait to go back!
MoreUpdate: still Awesome!!! 10yrs of vacations each one with Ricky's being a Must!! Come hungry, large portions! Very TASTY! Family owned, local sourced, fresh food. Kids menu available, breakfast options plentiful, from plate sized fluffy pancakes to Ricky's Platter- which is a piled plate of YUM! Full lunch and dinner selections. Kid friendly, very accommodating to our family of 7. Place is not large, short wait (5-10min) at peak breakfast. Family cooking, waiting staff small but always ready to assist. Don’t come expecting fine dining - this is local charm, hometown joint. Older building, owner is Huge Bronco fan as seen in the decor(fun), clean, kind, and deliciously filling. We WILL be back!
MoreSo glad we didn't find a Denny 's here, or we wouldn't have had the pleasure of eating here!👏 The wait staff is delightful and the breakfast was better than expected! I highly recommend the huevos rancheros, the corn tortillas were delicious, which is something I never pay attention to. ❤PAY THEM A VISIT!
Moresssshhhhh.....it's the best kept secret!
Always a great place for food and wonderful people
Amazing breakfast for a fair price.
The best chilli rellenos inTaos
Love this place...the mountain of love is hands down my favorite...the homemade chorizo is spot on spicey
MoreOMG THE FOOD! THE SERVICE! THE ATMOSPHERE! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I will recommend:)
MoreShould be a 5 but the overall temp inside was a bit warm. The food was good, the service from the service I walked in the door was great. The plate looked good and tasted just as good as it looked. The sopas were soft with slightly crispy shell. And it was fast. The chips are fresh in house. I will be back next visit. Service like this is what makes meals out and in New places worth a trip back. We'll done folks.
MoreChicken fried steak was the worsed I ever had. Mashed potatoes were instant and hard. And for13.00 only.
MoreBest Mexican food ever. My friend and I stopped at Rickie's because it had a sign for veggie food. I have never had such good chili rellenos served with the best beans and rice. My friend had the burrito dinner. We can't stop raving. The staff is the best also.
MoreSuper sweet waitress added to this classic New Mexico experience.
We were in a rush and it was closing time so didn't linger at all. My Frito pie was good and filling. His enchiladas were tasty and good for next meal also.
MoreGreat Chile and local dishes, but a bit greasy. Would be better if they used more real cheese instead of the fake stuff.
MoreHole in the wall delicious little restaurant! The red Chile is so good if you like hot and spicy!
MoreGreat food at a good price. A family favorite in Taos!
Quaint local eatery. Food was good ,service was quick and friendly.
Tasty and generous portions.
had awesome breakfast there (green chile omlette and good coffee). service was fast and friendly. would definitely go there again.
MoreFood is good, like the way Grandma use to cook
Pancakes, eggs n bacon. Pancakes were off a bit, a mealy texture? Otherwise, the waiter was friendly and service was quick. The place has the roadside diner feel you'd expect.
MoreStrictly dive restaurants... food passable... did not get sick... that's a plus
Ricky's is a great place to eat in Taos. Great food, the burrito I has was among the best I've ever tasted, and the beans & rice were second to none. The restaurant was clean and warm on a cold night, and the staff was friendly and attentive. It's a small intimate place that serves great food - you just can't go wrong here!
MoreReal Mexican home style food as well as a selection of American dishes. Large portions and very low prices. Skip the Taos overpriced tourist restaurant and check out Ricky's if you enjoy Mexican.
MoreGreat place, lovely environment, awesome food
Saw a brief online review that mentioned Ricky's as having good food, and after eating there, I certainly agree. Since there was only one of me, I didn't sample a wide variety of breakfast options. When I travel in the southwest, huevos rancheros is my 'test standard'. If it's on the menu and it's mediocre, chances are everything else will be too. Ricky's *set the bar* here. Beans on the bottom, potatoes on the side, the right amount of cheese, corn tortillas, perfect eggs, and amazing red sauce (salsa roja) on top. This is a working person's cafe - no frills, nothing fancy, sports memorabilia (Ricky is a Broncos fan), specials on a board, lunch menu hand-written on another one. Plastic tablecloths. Locals 'own' the table closest to the kitchen. Locals say hello when you come in. Service is friendly, good, and the prices are real. After a week on the road in the Four Corners, this was by far my favorite meal. I'll be back any time I'm in town.
MoreVery very nice service, and the food was Great! Definitely coming back!
It was good food, and very nice employees! Loved all the BRONCOS stuff!Only draw back was how hot it was in the place!
MoreRated "Best New Mexican" food in Taos, this small restaurant was a delicious find in Taos! Definitely worth the stop while visiting the art district. Enchiladas and Sopapillas were phenomenal!!
MoreGood food fast service, great portion size. Parking not so great. But still will go back anytime... Only have had breakfast.
MoreFirst time checkout this local restaurant out to support local and the services started out nice, than ordered a half stuffed sopila looked good than partial way just tasted awful! I told the waitress don’t know her name she had long hair ties back, she dint say sorry or try to make Things better! Horrible I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if ur traveling threw or locally! Smelled funky aswel idk what was going on in there.
MoreBest Mexican food I have ever eaten, hands-down. Authentic, amazing green and red chili. The red chili was my favorite, spicy and the perfect thickness. Nice employees and very friendly server. I had tamales, my brother and boyfriend had burritos, my dad had a 1/2 stuffed sopa (good size!) All of us were impressed. The greatest part of lunch was the sopapillas with honey. YUM!
MoreAwsome tamalaes
My wife and I went to Ricky's for breakfast, our meal was great! Seemed that everyone else thought so too. Meals are very good, we were seated quickly, last table, then soon enough other tables cleared and others were seated just as quickly. We'll be back. Come try Ricky's out for yourself.
MoreBest northern new Mexico food in town. Family owned and operated. They treat everyone like family. Try the breakfast burrito smothered with veggie green chili. Yum!
MoreThis place was a VERY lucky find!!! Found this place passing through and everything was delicious. Service is fast, everyone was so nice. It’s pretty small but if you can get table or have to wait a-little bit, it is 100% worth it. No reason why Ricky’s doesn’t have 5 stars. You will not be disappointed.
MoreFriendly little place, very good green chile. Fast service, Mary was a pure delight! The coffee was a huge disappointment. Hash browns weren't brown, pancakes were really good.
MoreRicky's was located almost directly across from where I was staying...as I wanted a more "local flavor" rather than a fast food "McDonaldish" breakfast, I decided to give it a try....man am I glad I did! DELICIOUS FOOD AND NICE FOLK!!!
MoreBest green and red chili in taos! Don't believe me... try it!....
Homemade chorizo! WOW! Breakfest burrito... Best I've had! Thank you Stella and Ricky!Update:5/23 I'm so excited that that Your influence has reached over 8000 people! I want everyone within walking distance experience your home cooking! Damn I wish I back in your neck of the woods! Homemade chorizo was MEMORABLE! Many happy thoughts guys...
MoreGreat food. Great service!
Ricky's messed up on my order BUT they made it up 10xfold by providing great customer service and a freshly made sandwich! Its proof they are dedicated to their customers. Thank you guys !
MoreGood home cooking ,great service best burgers in Taos! Sopapillas excellent!
Had carry out this morning. Was PHENOMENALLY good! Mountain of Love and pecan pancakes were our choices! Server thru drive through was also very kind, making sure we had all our cream sugar butter and plastic wear. Wish we could have dined in. See u next time!
MoreSo good!!! Authentic food in an authentic setting. Like eating a home cooked meal in a friend’s living room. Food is inexpensive but delicious and you get plenty of it. I’ve had to get a box every time I’ve come.
Moremust place to eat in Taos New Mexico very good food
